About me
Amy is a director, playwright, improviser and author of Whose Improv Is It, Anyway? Beyond Second City (2001) a ground-breaking (and still quite relevant) study of gender, race, and power in Chicago improv comedy. Her new book, Improv for the 21st Century, is forthcoming from Routledge. Her work appears in the Oxford Handbook of Improvisational Studies, Embodied Playwriting, and Radical Acts: Theatre and Pedagogies of Change. She has led improv workshops at Funny Woman Festivals, theatres, colleges and universities across the U.S. Recently retired as full professor of Theatre/Dance at Gustavus Adolphus College, she looks forward to spending time with her amazing daughter, Miranda.
