Dr. Katie Stowers is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency and palliative medicine fellowship at The Ohio State University. Katie is an associate professor of medicine. She serves as the Interim Director of the OHSU Center for Ethics in Health Care, as well as holding the inaugural Ronald W. Naito Directorship in Serious Illness Education. Katie leads the Center’s TalkOregon Program, which aims to improve care for seriously ill Oregonians by training healthcare professionals to have clearer and more compassionate healthcare conversations. Her awards include: Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and multiple VitalTalk teaching awards. She also provides palliative care services to patients living with serious illness as part of the OHSU Palliative Care team, directs the OHSU Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship, and serves as Distinguished Faculty with VitalTalk.
